To-Do Notes

A 25/5 focus timer with sound, notes and stats

The timer runs the standard cycle: 25 minutes of focus, a 5-minute break, and a 15-minute long break after every fourth focus session, with a custom duration field for anyone who prefers 50/10. It can auto-start the next session after a three-second pause, plays a chime of your choosing when a session ends, and raises a browser notification if you have allowed them, so a tab in the background still gets your attention. Space starts and pauses, R resets, S switches mode.

Background audio comes in three kinds: bundled ambient tracks (rain, a ticking clock, binaural focus tones, a water fountain and a meditation track), curated internet radio stations by genre, and your own music files, which are stored in the browser's IndexedDB so they are available next visit without re-adding them. Radio streams come from the stations' own servers and depend on them being up; if one stalls, the page suggests switching to local sounds.

Around the timer: a notes panel with attachments, also kept in IndexedDB; a stats panel with sessions per day, weekly and monthly totals and a streak counter, exportable as JSON; short stretching exercises for breaks; and a random reads tab that fetches a short article on a chosen topic. Session statistics are held in session storage, so they survive a reload but reset when the tab is closed; export them if you want a record.

Frequently asked questions

Does the timer keep running if I switch tabs?

Yes, but browsers slow down timers in hidden tabs, so a long session may drift by a few seconds. Navigating to another page on this site stops it; the page warns before you leave.

Why 25 minutes?

It is the interval from Francesco Cirillo's original technique, short enough to start without resistance and long enough to get something done. Use the custom field if 50/10 or 90/20 suits you better.

Are my statistics saved?

For the life of the tab. They live in session storage, so a reload keeps them but closing the tab clears them. The export button downloads them as a JSON file.

Can I use my own music?

Yes. Upload audio files under My Music; they are stored in the browser's IndexedDB on this device and play alongside the timer.

Does it work offline?

The timer, notes, stats and bundled ambient sounds work once the page has loaded. Internet radio and the random reads tab need a connection.
