Compare two texts and see exactly what changed

Paste the original on the left and the revised version on the right; the differences render below as you type, with additions in green and deletions in red. Three granularities: Lines, which lists each line with a + or - prefix the way a code diff does, and Words or Characters, which show the two texts merged inline with the changed fragments highlighted, better for prose edits where a single word moved.

The counters report additions, deletions and unchanged content (lines in Lines mode, characters in the other two) so you can see at a glance whether a document was lightly touched or rewritten. Swap exchanges the two sides, Reset clears both, and Copy diff report puts a plain-text version with +/- prefixes on the clipboard for pasting into an email or a ticket.

Comparison is whitespace- and case-sensitive, so a trailing space or a changed indentation shows up as a difference; that is usually what you want for code and config files, and worth knowing for prose. Both texts stay in your browser, which makes this safe for contracts, drafts and anything else you would not paste into a service that logs inputs.

Frequently asked questions

Can I upload two files to compare?

No. Open each file and paste its contents into the two boxes; plain text, code, JSON and CSV all work.

Is there a size limit?

No fixed limit. Very long texts are fine in Lines mode; Characters mode does more work and can slow down on documents of many thousands of lines.

Can it ignore whitespace or letter case?

No. Every character counts, including spaces, tabs and line endings. Normalise the texts first if you want to ignore those.

Which mode should I use?

Lines for code, configuration and anything line-oriented. Words for prose. Characters when you need to spot a single changed digit or letter.

Is the text sent to a server?

No. The comparison runs in your browser and the texts are discarded when you leave the page.
