A credit-weighted GPA on the 4.0, 5.0 or 10-point scale
Choose the grading scale your institution uses, then add one row per course with its letter grade and credit value. The calculator returns a weighted GPA to two decimal places, the equivalent percentage of the scale maximum, the total credits counted, and how many rows were included. Rows without a grade are ignored rather than counted as zero, so you can list courses before results are in.
Weighting is by credits: a 4-credit course with a B pulls the average more than a 1-credit course with an A. Each scale has its own grade table. The 4.0 scale uses the common A+ and A at 4.0, A- at 3.7, B+ at 3.3 and so on down to F at 0; the 5.0 scale maps A to E onto 5 to 1; the 10-point CGPA scale used by many Indian universities runs O (10), A+ (9), A (8), B+ (7), B (6), C (5), P (4) and F (0).
Switching scales clears the grade selections, because a B means something different on each. The percentage shown is simply the GPA divided by the scale maximum; universities that publish their own conversion (several treat CGPA × 9.5 as the percentage) should be followed in preference to it. Credits accept half-point values for institutions that use them.
Frequently asked questions
How is a weighted GPA calculated?
Multiply each course grade in points by its credits, add those products together, and divide by the total credits. Two courses at 4.0 and 3.0 with 4 and 2 credits give (16 + 6) / 6 = 3.67, not the simple average of 3.5.
Can it tell me what grade I need on a final exam?
Not yet. It calculates a GPA from grades you already have; it does not solve for the score a remaining assessment would need.
Does an A+ score higher than an A?
Not on the 4.0 scale here, where both are 4.0, which is the most common convention in the United States. Some schools award 4.3 for an A+; if yours does, your official transcript will differ slightly.
How do I convert CGPA to a percentage?
The calculator shows CGPA divided by 10 as a percentage. Many Indian universities instead multiply CGPA by 9.5, so a 8.0 CGPA is 76% under that rule and 80% under the simple one. Use the formula your university publishes.
Are my courses saved or uploaded?
Neither. The list exists only on the page: refreshing clears it, and nothing is sent to a server.
