Convert length, weight, temperature and more
Convert between metric and imperial units across length, weight, temperature, volume, area, speed and data sizes — metres to feet, kilograms to pounds, Celsius to Fahrenheit, litres to gallons. Type in either field and the other updates instantly, so you can work in whichever unit you think in.
Temperature is the one conversion that is not a simple multiplication: Fahrenheit = Celsius × 9/5 + 32, with the offset making 0°C equal 32°F rather than 0°F. Data sizes follow the binary convention where noted — a kibibyte is 1,024 bytes, while storage marketing uses 1,000.
Conversions run entirely on your device, work offline once the page has loaded, and use exact conversion factors rather than approximations.
Frequently asked questions
Which units can it convert?
Eight categories: length, weight, temperature, area, volume, speed, data and time. Each category lists every unit it knows below the converter, with your value already converted into all of them.
Is a kilobyte 1,000 or 1,024 bytes here?
1,024, and likewise 1,024 kilobytes to a megabyte and so on, which is how operating systems report file sizes. Kbps and Mbps are treated as 1,000-based bits per second, so 1 Mbps is 125,000 bytes per second.
How do I convert Celsius to Fahrenheit?
Multiply by 9, divide by 5 and add 32. 20°C is 68°F, 37°C is 98.6°F. Kelvin and Rankine are also available in the temperature category.
Are the cups, fluid ounces and gallons US or imperial?
US. A cup is 236.6 ml, a fluid ounce 29.57 ml and a gallon 3.785 litres. An imperial (UK) gallon is 4.546 litres, so divide a UK figure by 1.2 before entering it.
How long is a month or a year in the time category?
A month is fixed at 30 days and a year at 365 days, which is the usual convention for rough conversions. For exact calendar spans, use the date calculator instead.
