Combine Excel and CSV files without copying and pasting
Drop in two or more .xlsx or .csv files, put them in order and choose how they should come together. "Keep each sheet" gathers every sheet of every file into one workbook, each sheet named after its file, with formatting, column widths, merged cells, frozen panes and formulas intact. "Stack rows into one sheet" appends the first sheet of each file under the previous one to build a single table, the usual job for monthly exports, branch reports or survey downloads.
When stacking, the header row is kept once and columns are matched by their header names, so a file that lists "City" before "Name" still lines up with one that does the reverse; a column that appears in only some files is added at the end. An optional "Source file" column records which file each row came from. The result downloads as .xlsx, or as .csv for importing elsewhere.
Google Sheets and Excel can both do this, but only one sheet at a time or with Power Query, formulas or scripts. Here the files are read in your browser and never uploaded, which matters for payroll, customer lists and anything else you would rather not hand to a website.
Frequently asked questions
How do I merge multiple Excel files into one?
Add the files, arrange their order, choose "Keep each sheet" to put every sheet into one workbook or "Stack rows into one sheet" to build one long table, then press Merge and download.
Do the columns need to be in the same order?
No. With "First row is a header" ticked, columns are matched by header name, so different column orders still line up. Columns found in only some files are added at the end and left blank for the others.
Is formatting kept?
When keeping each sheet, yes: styles, column widths, merged cells, frozen panes and formulas are copied. When stacking rows, values and number formats are kept, and formulas are replaced by their calculated values because the rows move.
Can I merge CSV files?
Yes. CSV files with commas or semicolons can be mixed with .xlsx files, and the merged result can be saved as .xlsx or .csv.
Are my files uploaded?
No. They are read and combined in your browser, and the merged file is downloaded from there.
