Merge, split, compress and unlock PDFs in the browser

Five PDF jobs under one roof, each on its own tab. Merge combines two or more PDFs in the order you set, with buttons to reorder or drop files before you commit. Split takes a single PDF and either writes every page out as its own file or cuts it into the ranges you type, such as "1-3, 4, 7-10"; more than one output is bundled into a zip so your browser does not prompt for each file. Image to PDF turns a set of JPEG or PNG images into one document with a page per image, sized to the image's pixel dimensions, and on a phone it can take photos straight from the camera.

Compress re-renders every page as a JPEG at a resolution you choose (roughly 150, 220 or 300 dpi) and either a quality level or a target size in KB or MB. That makes scanned and image-heavy PDFs much smaller, but it also means text in the output is no longer selectable, so it is the wrong tool for a document you still need to search. Remove Password uses qpdf to strip both the open password and any owner restrictions from a PDF you already have the password for; it does not crack passwords you have lost.

Merge and Image to PDF can also set a password on the file they produce, using standard PDF encryption that any reader will prompt for. Every operation runs in your browser with pdf-lib and qpdf compiled to WebAssembly, so the documents are never uploaded, and the only practical limits are your device's memory and a 150-page cap on compression.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a file size or page limit?

There is no fixed size limit. Compression refuses PDFs with more than 150 pages because rendering them would stall the browser; the other tabs are limited only by your device's memory.

Do my PDFs get uploaded anywhere?

No. Each file is read into your browser's memory, processed there and downloaded from there. Nothing is sent to a server.

Why is the text in my compressed PDF no longer selectable?

Compression rasterises each page to a JPEG and rebuilds the document from those images, which is what makes it small. Use the Standard or High resolution preset for text you only need to read, and keep the original if you need to search or copy from it.

Can it remove a password I do not know?

No. Remove Password needs the password that opens the file; it strips the encryption so the PDF opens freely afterwards, but it does not guess or recover a lost one. A PDF with only owner restrictions can be unlocked with the password field left empty.

Does the output carry a watermark?

Merge, Split, Image to PDF and Compress add a small grey "Made with VibeTools" line in the bottom margin of each page. Remove Password returns the document unchanged apart from the encryption.
